We are not aware of a standard library implementing method (Ref. 1) and did not implement it ourselves. All numerical results reported here are based on readily available libraries (scipy.linalg.eigvalsh_tridiagonal), these allow for a linear speedup of the diagonlization of three-triagonal matrices of size D×D using steps, instead of steps for general matrices.

To find this largest value, the use of a bisection method can provide a very considerable speedup.
